By Year 5, children have developed a solid foundation of learning behaviours and skills. They become more sophisticated as learners, encouraged through a stronger emphasis on self-evaluation, deeper questioning and critical thinking. Children are tasked with working creatively and also more independently, collaborating in group projects that utilise valuable research techniques.
We start to think about the important transition to secondary school; this means beginning to get children ready academically, but just as importantly, socially and mentally. Our Relationship Education Programme fully supports them in this with lots of opportunity for discussion and reflection. Children also enjoy a residential trip away which is lots of fun and an opportunity to further develop independence and important practical life skills, for example - how to put a duvet cover on a duvet!
